One of the precursors to the October Revolution was Bloody Sunday. Bloody Sunday is the day that unarmed demonstrators marched to the Winter Palace to petition Tsar Nikolay II. The demonstrators were shot down by the Imperial Army and the Tsar was not even at the Winter Palace on that day.
